I went to Mexican Amigos, a tequila/sports bar and restaurant in Richmond Hill, for dinner with my family on Friday night. Located on Yonge and Elgin Mills, I pass by this place often during my commute to and from school. It was fairly busy with a chill and cozy atmosphere. There was a basketball game playing on the large screen TVs and I imagine if there was a hockey game the place would be much more packed and rowdy. Almost every booth also has its own TV which is cool. Friday and Saturday nights are “Latin Nights!” and we were entertained by some great live music.
The food isn’t really authentic Mexican, but none of us were expecting that from anywhere in this area. We still really enjoyed our meals! Our server, while a little forgetful, was friendly and pretty good considering how busy it started to get.
I think this is the first hot alcoholic beverage I’ve ever had! It’s a nice drink, but it didn’t particularly fit well with the food and mood of the evening.
Like everything in life, needs more guac. Otherwise, come on, they’re nachos. Yum! :)
The tortillas weren’t warm anymore when served, but that was fine. I originally wanted the guacamole but lost out to my dad who’s a big fan of pico de gallo. I enjoyed this! These two appetizers and my drink made me pretty full before we even got to our main dishes.
This is a really good idea to offer as a main dish for one person. The burritos and taco could use a lot more stuffing, especially meat, but all of the main dishes ended up being quite filling for us anyway after all those appetizers.
It was my first time trying this, and it was delicious! The cheese stuffed in the peppers wasn’t melted though, which I think I would have enjoyed a lot more. It’s such a heavy dish and I ended up having to pack up more than half of it for home.
SO GOOD, and so decadent! My first time trying this and I liked how moist and rich it was.
My brother really enjoyed this dish. I have to say those are the most perfectly round deep-fried ice cream scoops I’ve ever encountered. My friend, Karen, also happens to love this dessert here.
My brother is a churros FIEND, and while the portion is a little small for its price, it was satisfying enough.
My dad really enjoyed this dessert, and I think it’s the most well-presented. Despite us all being pretty stuffed from dinner, we all managed to (mostly) clean up these desserts. The only other dessert on the menu that we didn’t order is the flan, which I guess we’ll have to try next time!
Yum! You guys pretty much ordered every major item from their menu! Lol. I’d love to try that Tres Leches Cake one day. It sounds delicious!
Haha, pretty much! We’ll need to come back though for free salsa lessons. :D
