I made a loan through KIVA – a non-profit organization that that uses a global microfinancing system to allow people to lend $25 (or any other amount) to someone in need of it for a work opportunity. As that person makes money, the amount you lend is eventually repaid to you and you can choose to re-loan or withdraw it. There’s also an option to donate to KIVA itself to keep their services running.
My loan was made to Sophal in Cambodia, a rice farmer looking to support her son’s higher education endeavours to become a nurse.
An early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone! <3
And to my fellow Torontonians, stay safe and warm in this icy winter wonderland~
