On Saturday night, my family and I went to dinner at Asian Legend (505 Highway 7 East). Asian Legend is a Chinese chain restaurant with several locations in Toronto. My dad is a fan particularly of their Chunky Beef with Noodles and drove us all to the restaurant to satisfy his craving. We arrived at the restaurant early (just after 5pm) so there were only two or three other occupied tables in the large seating area.
We first ordered three rounds of dim sum:
STEAMED SOUP FILLED DUMPLINGS WITH GROUND PORK
STEAMED SOUP FILLED DUMPLINGS WITH CRAB MEAT & PORK
STEAMED SIU MAI WITH SHRIMP & PORK
These were good though I especially loved the steamed soup filled ones! I felt that the ground pork ones were just as good as the ones with crab meat and pork for cheaper. The restaurant has soy sauce, vinegar, and chili sauce for you to mix yourself into a dipping sauce for the dumplings.
PEKING DUCK (WHOLE)
Always a winner, and my favourite part of our meal! The duck meat was great and the hoisin sauce wasn’t too thin. We couldn’t finish everything and took some home with us. We got some more of the wrappers, too, for no extra cost.
CHUNKY BEEF WITH NOODLES
So flavourful! Definitely a nice bowl of comfort on the onset of winter time weather. Both the beef and the noodles are so thick and soft.
SHRIMP & PORK WONTON NOODLE SOUP
Also a nice soup, but less satisfying and flavourful than the chunky beef one! We also had shrimp and pork dim sum though so perhaps we were just overloaded with the shrimp and pork.
A lightly flavoured pudding drenched in sweet milk and topped with mango pieces! I really enjoyed this dessert. The mango pieces were a twinge more on the sour side which actually worked nicely with the rest of the pudding and milk. I devoured this, haha.
